Buffalo Springs 70.3 preview

Buffalo Springs has long been a place where Australians have excelled and this weekend's jaunt to Texas for the 70.3 race should be no exception. A couple of Australia's brightest stars will be on hand to see how their form measures us with the locals. Rumour has it Luke Bell will be out there to try and repeat his winning performances on the 70.3 circuit. Luke's form is coming and the Australian is trying to run himself into form. As an old cycling buddy once said, "you can afford not to train, you can't afford not to race."
This race promises to be another tough battle. The athletes must be getting used to rolling up and not expecting an easy time of it as the fields in the U.S 70.3 races always pack a punch.
Men's Event
This will be a good one and if Paul Amey can continue his good form he is the one to beat. Luke Bell and Leon Griffin will push him but Amey does carry into this race a blistering run leg so he might be out of sight early coming out of T2. Griffin will make it an honest bike for sure as he looks to stamp his name on another 70.3 title to add to the race he won at home in Geelong.(read Leon's thought from 70.3 Kansas)
Womens Event
Let's just say one name for now. Mirinda Carfrae. The dominant force in world 70.3 racing. Short of a major mechanical or injury Mirinda would go into the race as the heaviest of favorites. She is fast, smart and has a run leg that is devastating. Her last race she had the fastest run split by some 10 minutes. The two Joanna's Zeiger and Lawn will make the podium but it won't be on the top step.
